The neighborhood bar The View Tavern is just that, a quaint around the corner restaurant/bar. Its home is in an historic building originally established in 1954 as the Parkview Tavern. It was later renamed The View Tavern. Known for 35 cent wings and amazing burgers people call this bar their home base when gathering friends or family for a night on the town.
Locals flock to indulge on the drinks and meal specials. Most notably is their famous Becky Burger, named after the owner Becky Ullrey, a burger with grilled onions, barbecue sauce, bacon, and Swiss and American cheese. This top notch burger won the #1 spot in the Northern Indiana Tourism Commission Burger Wars in 2014. Most recently, the owner and chef named another burger after the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit. Neighbors to the restaurant as well as frequent patrons the namesake The Homicide Burger was paying homage to the aforementioned police unit. The big burger is deck out in pepper jack cheese, bacon, jalapenos and relish and has a killer kick to it. Build Your Own Burger is available too at The View. The View is a hot spot to revel in their drink specials. Most notably their loaded Bloody Marys are not for the fainthearted, they are loaded to the brim with delicious onion, olives, celery, and shrimp! It is rumored to have the tastiest and coldest beer in town. (The best little bars always do!)
This salt of the earth restaurant and bar is a great way to experience all walks of life and burgers. Be sure to check out the Facebook Page for their popular daily specials. Hit the juke box for some classic tunes and enjoy the food and company.
