Leavenworth has a fascinating history of its own. Originally located along the Ohio River, the town was devastated by the historic 1937 Ohio River Flood. Rather than rebuild in the floodplain, much of the community relocated to higher ground, where present-day Leavenworth now stands.

Stephenson's General Store made the move as well, salvaging wood from the original building to create many of the beautiful counters and cabinets visitors still admire today.
